Mechanic Responsibilities

Responsibilities involving semi-truck and commercial trailer repair and maintenance include:

Perform general maintenance on commercial trucks and trailers
Perform routine maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers
Use diagnostic tools to test and repair components
Perform work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy
Diagnose problems based on customer complaints and inspection
Examine the assigned unit to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments as needed
Grease all greaseable components
Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order
